FAQ
If the game is free to play, it must be pay to win?
The game does not have any pay-to-win elements, and never will.
The project is led by passionate gamers who dislike pay-to-win as much as you do.
If we aren't playing pay-to-win games, then we aren't going to create one.
We want the gameplay to be fun for everyone, regardless of the amount of money spent.
But there are payments, right?
The base game can be played completely for free, without even creating an account. You will not be able to gain an in-game advantage by paying more.
In the future, there will be two types of purchaseable content:
- Early access to new playable content, such as extra dungeons or game modes - similar to buying a DLC.
- Community-created cosmetic items, such as character skins, companions, or household decorations, with revenue going directly to creators.
Why use the blockchain? Why not a simple database?
We definitely wouldn't need the blockchain if we were the only ones creating content.
However, we want to allow users to submit their own content and earn revenue from its purchases.
Think about it as a decentralized game studio working together on building a game.
As it turns out, the blockchain is perfectly suited for that.
When the creator submits their content to the game, that creator will receive an NFT that proves their ownership of the content, which will in turn allow them to claim any revenue from its purchases.
By selling the NFT to another person, they would also sell the right to claim any future revenue from the content they created.
Thanks to the way blockchain works, revenue distribution will be fully automatic, transparent, and independent of any centralized entity, making the project truly open.
Is this a metaverse?
While we understand that even Candy Crush clones are calling themselves metaverses at this point, we think it's a bit far-fetched to call every online game a metaverse.
However, we do intend to have crossovers with other projects, making some of other projects' content available in our game.
My wallet is burning a hole through my pocket, how can I throw money at this?
Meme Guardians will use the TOAD token, both for in-game purchases and for participating in DAO voting regarding the direction of the game.
However, the base game will be playable for free, and you are not required to make any payments in order to play.
TOAD is the native token of the TOAD Network ecosystem, which is currently available on 3 chains and can be purchased on PadSwap or PancakeSwap.
